Training Session

Details

Small Group Training - $120 +HST

2-4 participants | 2 hours

Ideal for participants looking for hands-on practice, individualized feedback, and confidence building in a small-group environment.

With a maximum of four participants, Small Group Training provides additional opportunities to work with EMS equipment, practice weighted lifting and patient-handling techniques, and receive feedback from Medic Strong instructors.

This option is well suited for those preparing for college lifting requirements, pre-employment physical testing, return-to-work physical assessments, or anyone looking to build confidence and gain additional hands-on experience with EMS equipment.

Minimum 2 participants required. Register with a friend or choose an available Small Group session. The session is confirmed once at least two participants are registered, with a maximum of four.

**If the minimum is not reached, your session can be moved to another available date, you may bring another participant, or you may upgrade to Private Training.

Private Training - $150 +HST

1 participant | 1 hour

A fully individualized training session focused on your specific needs, concerns, and training goals.

Private Training provides dedicated one-on-one coaching and allows the session to be tailored around the equipment, lifts, or techniques you would like to focus on. Participants can spend additional time working through areas of difficulty, rebuilding familiarity with EMS equipment, and receiving detailed feedback on technique and body mechanics.

This option is particularly well suited for participants who are preparing for an upcoming physical assessment, returning to work, addressing a specific lifting concern, or looking to build confidence through individualized hands-on practice.

Private Training provides guaranteed one-on-one instruction with the full session focused on your individual training needs.

Organized Group Training - $80 +HST

Minimum 8 participants | 2 hours

Best for a pre-organized group looking for hands-on EMS equipment practice and lifting experience at the lowest per-person rate.

Participants rotate through EMS equipment and weighted lifting activities while receiving instruction and feedback on lifting techniques, body mechanics, equipment handling, and team-based lifts.

This option provides a structured group training environment with shared instructor attention and is particularly well suited for college classes, groups of paramedic students, or other pre-organized groups preparing for physical testing requirements.

How scheduling works: The group coordinates amongst themselves to identify dates when at least eight participants are available. Once potential dates have been identified, they can be provided to Medic Strong to confirm availability.

***The $80 group rate applies when a minimum of eight participants are able to attend the same scheduled session.

Which Option

Should I Choose?

Choose Small Group Training — $120

You want a smaller, easier-to-schedule session with more individualized feedback and are comfortable sharing instructor time with 1–3 other participants. Bring a friend or join another available session.

Choose Private Training — $150
You want guaranteed one-on-one coaching with the session focused specifically on your individual needs.

Choose Organized Group Training — $80
You already have at least eight participants who can coordinate a date together and want to take advantage of the lowest per-person rate.

Who Can Sign Up?

Individuals who have been taught and are experienced in handling EMS equipment through a post-secondary academic/educational program and are in good physical condition.

Process

Please visit the ‘Open Equipment Day’ tab and select the training session that best suits your needs. You will be sent a welcome email and the scheduling program will prompt you to create your profile. In order to secure your session, a credit card must be placed on your profile. Once your session is confirmed, you will be emailed pre-session paperwork which includes:

Code of Conduct

The paramedic profession places great importance on honesty, integrity, ethical conduct, and professional demeanour.

1. Respectful Behaviour: All participants must engage in respectful and professional behaviour towards staff, fellow participants, and any other individuals present during Open Equipment Day.

2. Compliance with Instructions: Participants are required to follow all instructions given by Medic Strong Inc. representatives regarding the Open Equipment Day procedures, safety guidelines, and protocols.

3. Honest Representation: Participants must provide accurate and honest information about their abilities, limitations, and any relevant health or medical conditions that may impact their performance during Open Equipment Day.

4. Non-Discrimination: Discrimination or harassment based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic is strictly prohibited during Open Equipment Day. All participants must treat others with fairness, equality, and respect.

5. Safety Awareness: Participants should prioritize their own safety and the safety of others during Open Equipment Day. Any concerns regarding safety hazards or potential risks should be immediately reported to the Medic Strong Inc. representatives.

6. Confidentiality: Participants must respect the confidentiality and privacy of other participants. Sharing or disclosing personal information without consent is not allowed.

7. Professional Conduct: Participants should conduct themselves in a professional manner throughout Open Equipment Day. This includes refraining from disruptive behaviour, or abusive language.

8. Compliance with Policies and Regulations: Participants are expected to adhere to all applicable policies, regulations, and legal requirements related to the Open Equipment Day. This includes compliance with any local, regional, or national laws and guidelines.

9. Cooperation and Collaboration: Participants should cooperate with Medic Strong Inc. representatives and other participants. Collaboration and mutual support are encouraged.

Failure to comply with this Code of Conduct may result in consequences, including removal from Open Equipment Day and potential legal actions, if warranted. Participants are encouraged to raise any concerns or violations of this code to Medic Strong Inc. representatives or relevant authorities.

Cancellation

Policy

Your appointment time is reserved for just you, a late cancellation or missed test leaves a hole in the day that could have been filled by another candidate. As such, we require 7 days notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Candidates who provide less than 7 days notice, or miss their appointment, will be responsible for the full cost of this appointment. If you cancel your appointment before the 7 days notice, you will be charged an administrative booking fee to the card on file.

Medic Strong Inc. reserves the right to reschedule or cancel sessions

Disclosure

Participating in the Open Equipment Day does not in any way guarantee you will be successful in completing any pre-employment functional abilities test.

Participation in the Open Equipment Day is not a “practice test” and equipment is not set up in a testing format.

Participation in the Open Equipment Day does not provide additional information about the PFAT that is not already publicly accessible online through this website.

FAQ

How much is the test?

$350 CAD +HST

When should I arrive?

Arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. Applicants are scheduled in groups throughout the day

How long is the test?

The test must be completed in under 20 minutes from start to finish. Applicants who exceed 20 minutes do not pass

When do I get my results?

You will receive an email of your pass/fail results within 72 hours of completing the PFAT

How do future employers/services get my results?

Official results will be sent directly to the Service(s) that you selected when you filled out the intake form.

How does scoring work?

The instructions that are provided will be the same for every candidate in order to keep the test standard. Each station will have physical components of the job with a strict score system of minor, major, and critical errors. A combination of minor and major errors or a single critical error can result in an unsuccessful test

What if I don’t pass?

You are eligible to re-take the PFAT after an unsuccessful attempt at the next available test day

How can I fail the PFAT?

- Exceeding the 20 minute time limit.

- A combination of minor and/or major error or a single critical error (compromising safety) can result in an unsuccessful test

-Inability to complete the lifting requirements of the test

Who will my lifting partner be?

Your lifting partner will be an experienced, working paramedic
